I had this on draught at the brewery. 10 oz. pour served in a tulip glass. It pours a rich, ruby-cola color with a finger of creamy, beige colored head and lacing with excellent retention. It's a lovely pour. The taste is classic barleywine: caramel, raisin, and sweet malt. The taste opens with lots of caramel and dark fruit, then finishes with burnt coffee and a slight hoppy bitterness. The tastes blend very well. This ale is medium-bodied, creamy, with moderate carbonation, and the 12.5% ABV is potent but not distracting. Overall, this English Barleywine is quite an achievement for a one year old brewery. The flavors are rich and pleasing and it's thoroughly enjoyable.
