Poured from fresh crowler into Slack Tide tulip glass. It pours a lovely, dark walnut - nearly black - with a half finger of creamy, light mocha colored head and lacing that faded fairly quickly. Its fragrant nose features roasted malt, freshly-brewed coffee, nuts, tobacco smoke, sea salt, and a unique smell from the oysters. The taste opens with roasted malt, both fresh and burnt coffee, and subtle chocolate and nuts. It's mildly sweet. There follows earthy, burnt char and the unique taste of oyster juice that is both sweet and salty. It finishes with burnt bitterness but the very last thing I taste is something like brine. The flavors compliment each other well and create a unique and really enjoyable taste. This isn't a particularly viscous stout which is okay given its saltiness. It features moderate carbonation and is very easy to drink at 6% ABV. You can easily drink a second pour. This is a versatile stout that is great for casual drinking but would also pair well with a pie, crisp or fritter containing apples, pears or peaches.
