This beer is named after the Tog (Tautog/Black Fish), a favorite target of local fall fishermen. Notorious T.O.G. is a no boil, New England style IPA with wheats and oats. This beer is hazy, juicy, and uses all hops from New Zealand.

Reviewed on day of can release. Poured into a tulip glass. It pours a turbid, dirty gold color with more than a finger of fluffy, bright white head that resembles egg whites, and a thick sheen of lacing. It's a classic NE appearance. It's fruity aroma features tangerine, cantaloupe, lemon, grapefruit, and whiffs of wheat cracker, pine needles, and floral hops. The taste is fantastic! It opens tangerine, melon, lemon, lime, and grapefruit, along with creamy oats and wheat cracker which add sweetness. There are also notes of pine needles. The New Zealand hops (not specifically identified) are plush and enhance the fruitiness but without much bitterness. The flavors blend seamlessly. The mouth feel is thick and creamy with a pleasant level of carbonation, and while the 7.2% ABV gives the ale good substance, a second pour is welcome. Overall, I think this is Slack Tide's best NE IPA to date. In fact, I think it's one of the best NE IPAs brewed in New Jersey. The label art is clever, as well.
