Reviewed less than a week after can release. Poured into a tulip glass. It pours a totally opaque, pastel tangerine color with almost two fingers of creamy, milk-white head and clinging, soapy lacing. A very attractive pour. The aromatic smell features tangerine, pineapple, fresh melon, lemon, and lime. The taste opens with a perfect balance of tart lemon and grapefruit, sweet tropical fruit, and hoppy bitterness. The website states that the hop bill includes both "northern and southern hemisphere" hops. I wish there was greater identification. But they are highly flavorful and provide a crisp bitterness. The flavors are delicate and blend very well. While it finishes with a lot of bitterness there is no astringency. The mouth feel is plush and creamy with appropriate carbonation and it's extremely drinkable at 7% ABV. Overall, Doormat is anything but. Rather, it's a delicate but highly flavorful American IPA that is a pleasure to drink. This may be the best New England IPA that Slack Tide has brewed.
