The fifth brew in our small batch series is a single-hop hazy IPA that showcases the Nectaron hop, delivering a bold burst of citrus flavor with a smooth, full-bodied mouthfeel. Brewed with flaked oats, wheat, and 2-Row malt, it pours a hazy golden hue, exuding an aroma reminiscent of fresh orange juice.

Pint pour on draught at the brewery. Served in a shaker glass. It is a dense, bright tangerine color with a modest ecru cap and ring around the glass. The nose offers pineapple, peach, and tropical notes, along with oaty sweetness. The first flavors I notice is the wheat and 2 Row Malt. It doesn't have the overwhelming tropical sweetness of many Nectaron-hopped IPAs. The Nectaron is used deftly and includes tart grapefruit along with the sweeter pineapple and peach. The hop bitterness is clean and mild throughout, which makes the ale particularly refreshing. Its mouth feel is well-bodied for the moderate 5.7% ABV. Overall, I like the way Slack Tide brewed this Nectaron IPA. They avoided the overripe sweetness that often prevails with this hop.
