This fusion of two styles (West Coast IPA and Hazy/Juicy IPA) marries the best of both worlds. To honor the Hazy craze, we utilized massive whirlpool and dry-hop additions with no early boil hops and added ample amounts of oats and wheat to contribute to the full and velvety mouthfeel. In line with the West Coast style, we utilized a clean fermenting house yeast to minimize ester production and a gypsum rich water profile thus allowing the focus to be on the resiny hop profile. This beer has a floral, tropical and resiny hop-forward nose. Mouthfeel is full and soft on the front of the palate but finishes resiny and dry with a substantial lingering bitterness that takes time to fully unfold.

pours a hazy mellow yellow body with an off-white foam head that has moderately low retention but leaves a high amount of sticky lacing as it settles to a rocky halo
aroma is lush orange juice, pineapple, mango, sweet bready malt, and a faint herbal hop bitterness
taste follows the nose straight up.
moderate carbonation and medium bodied, very smooth velvety throughout, finishes somewhat dry and leaves a mildly herbal bitter aftertaste
overall:
a great sit and sipper. uncomplicated and somewhat simple, but effective.
four on the floor for the hometown heroes

Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a very hazy orange juice color with a one finger head fizzy white foam. The head fades very fast leaving a tiny bit of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is very heavy of a tropical fruit smell of tangerine and pineapple mixed with some orange juice smells as well as some grapefruit and herbal hop. Along with these smells comes a bit of a doughy smell along with a touch of pine and a floral smell.
Taste – The taste begins with the sweeter tropical fruit that was sensed in the nose and is mixed with some flavors of a pine and herbal hop right from the start. While the grapefruit hop was big in the nose, it wasn’t nearly as strong on the tongue, maintaining just a slight presence throughout the taste profile. After the initial tastes, the sweetness fades a little bit all while the herbal hop really amps up. With a touch of a floral flavor, as well as a decrease in the sweeter tropical and orange juice flavors, one is left with a somewhat herbal and dank, but still sort of juicy taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is somewhat thicker and chewier with a carbonation level that is average. A decent feel for the hazy, somewhat dank, and juicy tastes of the brew and makes for an easy sipper.
Overall – Not sure why they consider this brew a west coast at all. It is almost entirely falling in the NEIPA category of taste, smell, and feel. Any which way, the brew is a nice one to try as its flavors are nice and clean. Just forewarned… don’t expect much west coast nature in this one…
