I don't see any date code on the label or on the can.

Appearance: It is a black-bodied beer with a medium-large head that has a khaki color. The bubbles are somewhat dense and it creates a bit of a rippled and fuzzy looking surface. The head retention is good but it doesn't leave any lacing. The can states that this is "ALC. 9.7%" and it has really good head formation and retention for that high of an ABV.

Aroma: It has a bit of a cocoa aroma with a hint of burnt wood. It is a subtle but pleasant aroma.

Taste: It has a nice flavor of chocolate up front with a light touch of caramel flavor. The middle of the palate has a prominent alcohol flavor mixed with some burnt wood character. The back of the palate has more bitter burnt flavor which is mellow.

Mouthfeel: It is medium-full bodied with a mild roasted grain bitterness and a bit of an earthy bitterness as well. It has an obvious alcohol character which isn't a huge deal given that the beer is 9.7%, but it doesn't help drinkability either. As a whole it still drinks pretty mellow and easy.

Overall: It was a pleasant beer. The label on the can states that the ingredients are "PALE DARK CRYSTAL CHOCOLATE FLAKED OATS" and for hops "NUGGET MAGNUM" and then "SCOTTISH ALE YEAST." The beer has a pleasant cocoa character in both the aroma and on the palate which likely comes from the chocolate malt. As previously mentioned it does have alcohol presence but given the high ABV that can be expected. It doesn't hide it very well but it's more of a flavor presence rather than alcohol heat which is nice. I found it to be a well made Imperial Stout that I would buy again and I would recommend.

A: color is a dark black almost to the point of being matte. Nice tan head that is about 1 finger

S: dark chocolate, peppermint, mint, mocha, roasted malts. This does indeed smell like a peppermint chocolate drink

T: taste follows along the lines of the nose. Mint, milk chocolate, mocha, a creamy sweetness. Finish is peppermint and chocolate. There is a slight roasted malt note in here as well - but no bitterness

M: medium, almost on the heavy side. Carbonation level is about 5 out of 10. It helps the mint be a bit more pronounced

O: this is a sweet, chocolatey Stout. It would be a great after dinner holiday beer. Not extremely complex, but well harmonizes and balanced
