On-tap @ Twin Elephant Brewing Co. in Chatham, NJ.

Reddish-brown color and murky with a small, off-white head. Lightly roasted malt, chocolate, caramel, and rye aroma. Flavor is a play on sweet and spice, but is nicely balanced and actually pretty smooth. Medium bodied with a lightly sweet finish.

A nice brown ale and the rye adds a nice, subtle layer of complexity to the beer.

A: a murky bright brown color that has just a hint of ruby red. Thin tan head poured (on tap)

S: pats, rye, caramel malt, brown sugar, hazelnuts, and just a hint of pepper spice. Rye is definitely noticeable in the nose

T: caramel malts, hazelnuts and mild rye spice upfront. There is a sweetness from the malts, and the hazelnut flavor that comes in behind that. Finish is just a touch of earthy hops to balance some sweetness out, but it definitley does finish sweet

M: medium mouthfeel with mid-level carbonation

O: an interesting take on a Brown Ale. The rye is more present in the nose, but it does exist in the flavor. It works well with the nutty flavors in here. Still on the maltier side, which I think a Brown Ale should be
