Pint on draught at the brewery. It pours a hazy, pale straw color with a small, milk-white head and minimal lacing. The smell is very subdued; just grains, corn, and a whiff of spice. But what's lacking in the nose is more than made up in the taste. It's full of barley with enough corn to give it some sweetness. There are crisp hops and a slight spiciness at the finish. The mouth feel is spot on: Lite and crisp with lively carbonation, and it's very drinkable at 5.4% ABV. It's a very refreshing brew. I downed it quickly. Overall, while the appearance and smell are rather pedestrian, Loantaka shines where it really counts. It has great flavor and mouth feel. It's competitive with Carton's This Town and Alementary's Hackensack Lager.
