Hoofed it on out to Chatham one Sunday early afternoon (Don’t tell Kyle I was in his ‘hood and didn’t call, he’ll be pissed and I don’t want to hear his shit). Yeah, I’ll be heading to work in a bit, just the long way around; I’ll get there when I get there. Was super psyched when I got off 24 and just stupidly circled as one does, and then doubled down on the dumb with my car’s mapping sending me there via not the shortest distance between two points. I just wanted to come out and sample the wares, didn’t want to have to work too hard for it…

Enter through the outside seating area backside (Nearly a dozen tables hightop and spool out back below the tri-point sail pieces), and in. Let my head adjust some. Industrial use space, concrete floors, black corrugated ceiling with spinnys, ductwork, & drop lighting boxes. Black cinder block walls most sides around. A white horizontal wood plank logo piece with small filament bulbs strung here, a barrel end mounted there

Straight dark wood plank topped bar to the right, a length run to both sides of a center sunken piece, worn dark green vertical plank wood base, and foot bar. Seating for none (get your beer, then stand clear). 12 carved wood handled taps on a stainless panel on barback center over a basin sink below, and a pair of small horizontal boards above showing flight information & serving sizes. Shelving to both sides with lots of elephant pieces, old beer cans, license plate, fire extinguisher, and glassware. Shirts & stickers merch in the far corner, alongside a large square board off the bar displaying the tap list (beer, style, hop descriptors, ABV) in alt colored chalkings. Crazy bar overhang just like the bar base and repurposed pallets on the underside, I think.

A pair of wraparound pieced benching set ups in the far corner, some bench seating off the door next to the can/crowler cooler), and a center saw horse table angled with stools for 16. A suspended ladder sits above with drop dangling viney potted plantings & alt height filament pear bulbs. Potted plants about the room & growlered on the tables. Brewery is not in plain sight but I do believe it is actually here; probably down that hallway space to the rear.

12 beers up; 7 of them hoppys (E.C.F.U.!, WC IPA, 6.3%; Saga Continues, IPA w/Lactose & Wildflower Honey, 6.9%; 4am Friday, DH IPA w/Nelson Sauvin, Comet, Pacific Sunrise, & Phantasm, 6.7%; Wepeel, IPA w/El Dorado, Huell Melon, & Mosaic, 7.1%; Nosh, IPA w/ Citra & Mosaic, 6.8%; Nosh, DIPA w/Citra & Motueka, 8.3%; The Wetlands, TIPA w/Simcoe & Riwaka, 10%), and the other 5 not (Pedro Chespirito, Mexican Lager, 4.9%; With My Hellions, Country Dark Mild, 3.5%; Chuck’s Garage, Session Ale, 4.8%; Marvin Berry, Fruited Sour w/blackberry, blueberry, raspberry, & strawberry, 6.2%; Be You Boo, Passion Fruit Gose w/Himalayan Salt, 5.6%).

It’s more hoppy than I generally want to see, but at least they’ve got a range of ‘em, I suppose. And I’ll just play West Coast, maybe get into one of the American IPAs, and avoid stupid Lactoseface. Oh, what to start with? Duh, no brainer… With My Hellions, Country Dark Mild, dry, nutty, mild roast, very good; Pedro Chespirito, Mexican Lager, light, easy drinking, pleasant enough; E.C.F.U.!, WC IPA, bitter, citrus, piney, tasty; 4am Friday, DH IPA, Nelson, juicy, solid; Wepeel, IPA, fruity, excellent. I’m going to say With My Hellions, E.C.F.U.!, & Wepeel for the wins, though I don’t recall anything I had there being of the suck.

Good tunes, nice breeze, well made beers, friendly folks. I’d come back here again. Hell, I meet even call Kyle to come out and meet up. Solid house.

Love visiting this place, especially since they built an outside deck area. Great for nice weather drinking. Twin Elephant makes down really great beer, so I like to be able to get 4oz tasters. Everything is available either in cans or crowlers to take home. Staff is usually friendly. One thing I don’t love is when there is a DJ playing loud music. Not my jam.

A quirky little place with a hallway to the tasting room. Lots of wood and random seating areas. There’s a modest outdoor area to enjoy your selections at as well.

The beers were pretty good, but the one or two that we’re above average had an equivalent that fell a bit short. The selection seemed about normal for the area, heavy on new school cloudy IPAs with some fruit offerings, a lactose stout, and a hopped up saison.

Service seemed to bog down pretty quickly as the place got busy. It seemed like a better setup might help, as the staff effort was there, it just seemed a little chaotic on the other side of the bar.

Place has a nice vibe, looks like they repurposed old wood pallets which comes together nicely. The place has a nice vibe and is located in an industrial area. They recently added an outside area in back which to have doubles their square footage. I didn't enjoy the beers when they first opened but felt their quality improves every time I visit the brewery. I has always found the staff very friendly and easy to speak with. On my recent visit they had a few IPA's, a grisette and saison beers, a couple of bitters, a cream ale with honey, saison and a few porters. I feel like they put some thought into the selection try to keep things interesting and appeal to different tastes.

Much to enjoy here at this small micro tucked away off the main roads in Chattam NJ. Roomy bar area, with plenty of seats and medium sized bar. No food, but you can bring in from local venues. Typically about 10 beers on tap, with ability to taste or just sample. Growlers filled to go, but they manage the inventory tightly and the smaller batches can only be enjoyed on site. The beer is fantastic - unfiltered and hopped up. Definitely some good things going on here. Check it out.

Great vibe in an older warehouse. Very crowded when I was there on a Saturday afternoon, but the counter service was very efficient and went fast. The medium sized room is simple but has warmth and character. Brews were really good.

Vibe: warm, woody interior. They have a nice layout, with some open areas, and a few seating areas as well. Music is usually a mix of rock & hip hop. If you get there early enough, you can usually enjoy the first few hours with no lines. It does get quite busy as it gets later into the afternoon. Definitely a cool vibe for beer geeks & non beer geeks alike. You can bring your own food in, or get delivery.

Quality: Beer quality is quite good, and seems to be only getting better. I've never had a poorly made beer here before, just beers that didn't quite do it for me. As with all breweries, there is room to improve.

Service: Staff is all very nice and knowledgable about the beers they're serving. The place never feels dirty. Lines can get a bit long in the afternoon with all the flights being poured. There is also room to improve their can releases, which also cause serious waiting times for not only cans, but pours as well.

Selection: Selection is great, and something which keeps me coming back. There are usually 3-4 different styles on tap, which is nice and I hope they do not become an IPA-only brewery

Solid brewery in the most unexpected area, this place feels like it transports you to Brooklyn once you get to the back bar area. Great vibe, good selection of beers and a warm inviting environment that made everyone feel at home...people with kids, guys with big beards and skinny jeans, groups having a birthday party, etc. All good, this place was enjoyable and I'd definitely go back.

Been to Twin Elephant twice now, both on weekdays right at opening. The taproom is beautiful inside. Mostly wood interior, from the seats to the benches to the bar. They really did an amazing job with a somewhat limited space. There is a long table with bar stools that diagonally cuts through the middle of the floor, as well as booths and seats with small tables scattered throughout. The first time I went they had great tunes playing. The second time the music was barely audible, however it was decorated very festively for Christmas, which made for a great atmosphere.

I've yet to have a bad beer here, but I've also yet to have one that wowed me. All beers are available in 4, 8, and 16 oz pours. They also offer flights, which increases wait times at the bar but they also seem to be very popular with customers. Service at the bar is laid back and friendly.

They offer around 8 beers on tap. Usually over half are pale ales or IPAs, but they had an English bitter and an American Brown Ale on to round things out during my last visit. During my other trip, they had a hefeweizen which I really enjoyed.

I really love this place and hope they continue to be successful. It's one of the better places in the area to get a beer. Highly recommended.

The place is a comfortable setting in an industrial complex. Plenty of wood, long tables, and kind of a basement feel to it. Eight beers on draft, and the line for growler fills was several people long. Showed up at opening time and staff had all hands on deck with professional and relaxed personalities. Blackboards show the offerings of the day. The beers I had were very good, and the IPAs were top notch. This is a must stop for anyone in the area.

Twin Elephant has made great strides over the past two years. It's located in a nondescript commercial building between Chatham and Summit. The tasting room is attractive and of decent size. On Friday and Saturdays, it draws a large, loyal, and lively crowd. The staff is friendly and willing to talk beer but they are often overtaxed by the crowd. Breweries in New Jersey cannot serve food but there often is a food truck standing ready and there are good restaurants nearby from which you can bring in food. The beer itself has really improved and is now uniformly quite good, ranging from okay to really outstanding. Overall, Twin Elephant is a welcome addition to the New Jersey craft beer scene and has quickly developed a loyal following. They recently started canning and the new releases sell out quickly. As the quality of the beer continues to improve, I have no doubt will continue to, it will become even more popular.
