A thanks to the captain of the canquest, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a 16 oz. can. This beer came out quickly, resulting in a bright yellow color with 2 1/2 inches of head. Smell is full of grapefruit, lemons. Taste is very tart, lemons, some grapefruit, desert dry. Feels medium/full bodied in the mouth and overall is a solid beer.

Welcome to my Happy New Summer in the Dark with a Beer in the City Sunday (Week 757)!
"Summer In the Dark" was a film noir festival that used to be held in Albuquerque, NM but seems to have been discontinued. 8=(
Tomorrow at 0730 (Local, EDT), my Summer vaycay ends as School Year (SY) 2019-'20 begins. It was more of a staycay this year as I had major surgery a week after commencement & then spent the Summer recovering & recuperating.
It was time well spent here at Chez Woody, allowing me to winnow through the backlog & assemble lots of brewery horizontals for each week's NBS. For insCANce, this week's foray into Asbury Park, NJ's Dark City B.C., beginning with this aptly-named beer as a part of The CANQuest (tm).
From the CAN: Berliner-style Ale Dry-Hopped w/Cascade, El Dorado & Azacca".
I did some in-CAN agitation before Crack!ing open the vent since it was a Berliner Weisse & cloudiness was acceptable. My C-Line Glug could not rouse much in the way of head, getting instead a rolling finger of foamy, soapy, off-white head with very limited retention. Color was a cloudy Straw-Yellow (SRM = > 2, < 4). Nose had a slightly funky citrusiness, especially of lemon & grapefruit. It suddenly dawned on me that it might be a good idea to take my GIRD pill before CANtinuing. Mouthfeel was thin, light, watery. The taste was very tart, citrusy & very much of grapefruit & lemon. Phew. Man, did this make my lips pucker! Phew. Next, I reached for some water in response. Having refreshed, I was able to CANtinue on with my drinking. Finish was super dry, very tart, very puckering. Whotta way to start!

On tap in, where else, Asbury Park.
Hazy ultra pale straw color. No head, modest lacing. Active bubbles prop the look.
Some lemon, light fruits, and dry yeast funk.
Tart granny smith apple and lemon zest over light funky yeast and light bread.
Light body. Very tart and sour. Puckers but remains a beer.
Easy drinking session sour with just enough IBU not to affect the palate.

Appearance: Pours hazy and honey colored; the thin cap fades quickly; not much lacing action
Smell: Funky and tart, with green apple and lemon pith tones
Taste: Lactic green apple and lemon tartness, up front, with a hint of bread underneath; the citrus pith builds through the middle but the finish is as tart as the start
Mouthfeel: Light to medium body with low to moderate carbonation
Overall: I like beers that deftly combine lactic and pithy hop flavors so I am a sucker for this one
Thanks, cp45, for the opportunity
