Venus is our tribute to Belgian brewing traditions, blending Golden Swan with fruited traditional spontaneous beer. Each blend, crafted at the end of the fruiting season, offers varying fruit year to year. Tart and refreshing, it captures the essence of these traditions.

6 oz draft pour at Lures Bar & Grille. Pours a cloudy golden light pink/reddish color. Aroma and flavor are lightly funky and lightly tart with some fruitiness, leather, and oak tannins. That said, it's a bit bland overall and definitely a full notch below the better spontaneous/oaked sours.

L: Poured from a bottle to a snifter glass. Had a yellowish / brown color and a very cloudy consistency. There was a quarter inch of foamy, somewhat long-lasting head. Sparse lacing, though.
S: A very solid aroma of citrus fruit, malt, spices, yeast, and a funky quality.
T: Tasted of a bit of yeast (a subtle backbone), some mild malt notes (not a particularly big factor, but present), a good shot of citrus fruit (lemon, especially), a nice funky quality (not too much, but certainly present), and light spices. This is a light, sweet, and well-constructed flavor. More fruity than anything else. Pretty tasty.
F: A well-carbonated beer with a lively finish. Light-bodied.
O: An easy to like, lightweight summer beer. Worth a try.
