2024: Aged 1 year in Willett bourbon barrels

We aged our Warrior Paint in Woodford Reserve Whiskey Barrels for one year! This giant stout was brewed with Mexican coffee beans from the local roasters at Newport Coffee House. Huge aromas of molasses and coffee meet with hints of oak and vanilla in the glass. Roasted grains blend with warming fruity esters and dark chocolate whiskey.

Dark, thick, almost black pour, no head, no lacing. Snot locker get a boozy whiff, roasted malt, coffee, chocolate. Flavors are spot on and come together as it warms. Thick, creamy feel, boozy warmth. Good stuff.

2022 vintage (released December 20/22); drank 2/7/23 @ the Yarchives.

Black/brown appearance.

A rough pour yielded a small, noisy dark tan head; nice lacing.

Oak, mild cream & faint dark roast coffee bean notes in the nose.

Creamy medium thick mouthfeel.

Oak, bourbon, medium roast coffee bean & mild cream flavors.

Oak-y & boozy, but overall pleasant. I wouldn't age this bad boy, but it's worth a quaff fresh.

16oz can, 2019. Inky black body with a thin khaki head. Boozy aroma of oaky bourbon, dark cocoa, coffee, roasted barley, and vanilla. Good meld of flavors with notes of oak, boozy bourbon, dark chocolate, coffee, vanilla, roasted barley, caramel, and earthy hops. Body is full but could be fuller, ample carbonation, alcohol is warming, oak, roast, and bourbon lingers on the semi-dry finish. Thid s was good - I like the extra oaky flavors from the barrel.

22 ounce bottle into a snifter. Had 3/24/18. Aged one year in Buffalo Trace barrels.

Pours dark and mostly opaque, a little oily looking, with a quarter inch quickly dissipating head and sparse, spotty lacing. Aromas of bourbon, coffee, roasted malt, figs, cocoa, caramel, some oak. Really smells good. The taste is similar- bourbon, malt, coffee, oak, caramel, some figs. A pretty good sized alcohol bite for a while, but it does dissipate somewhat. The alcohol makes it a little harsh, a good fuller body, appropriately carbonated.

Wow, this was a great introduction to this brewery! Great aromas and flavors, the Buffalo Trace barrels are excellent. Very enjoyable. The heavy alcohol warming up front was really only a slight negative. Will be happy if I can get this again.
