Pours a light orange (not exactly light for a helles). Generous soapy head that leaves a large amount of lacing throughout glass. Smell is floral and yeasty. Taste is quite grainy with some orange peel, leaves a slight stickiness on the palate but finishes crisp and easy to drink. It isn’t a true helles. It leans towards amber lager with a caramelised malty feel. It’s okay though.

500ml pour from tap in a pint glass at Bierkiste in Munich.
Gorgeous clear amber, bright and brassy, about a finger of head, perfect amount of active carbonation. Smell is bready, yeasty, moderate sweetness, floral, a hint of earthiness.
Taste is similar, leans more into the earthiness, some grass, some honey sweetness.
Mouthfeel is medium, smooth. Overall, it's pretty good.

Nothing really special really, as advertised, rather astringent taste. Pleasant.

Clear, light amber color with slightly off-white head. Aroma has bright, floral hops and underlying, slightly caramelized malt. Taste is really balanced, like a true helles, but on top you have some nice, floral hop flavors. Light to medium body with soft carbonation. Overall it's a really enjoyable, hoppy helles.

50cl BOTTLE from Getranke Oase in Munich. Pour courtesy of Thomas - thanks, man!
5.10% ABV.
Pours a white cap that recedes fully within a minute, leaving no lacing. Body is standard copper of nice vibrance. Clean, with no visible yeast/lees or sediment.
Aroma is more hoppy than you'd expect in a helles lager, or at least a traditional one. Floral, even a bit fruity. Not exactly the grassy Noble hop hallertau region character I expected. Munich malt sweetness is present, but bends bit too sweet and syrupy methinks. Aromatic intensity is average, though as above noted the hops are more pronounced than is typical of the style.
Light and refreshing, even though mouthfeel does lean a bit too heavily towards the syrupy thick side of the spectrum. Surprisingly hop-forward, though still balanced. Munich malt sweetness eclipses any hop bitterness. Simple to style, but enjoyable and pleasant. I like it.
Overall, the balance could use some dialing in, and the texture needs some tweaking. It's a nice helles lager, if something of an untraditional one. It's nice to see a brewery teasing the edges of convention instead of trying to push the envelope to an extreme like many American breweries. Drinkable stuff, and well worth trying. but not unique nor special - and not the ludicrously drinkable brew a world class helles would be.
High C+ (3.25) / ABOVE AVERAGE
