Roast flavors harmonize with a hint of malt sweetness and German noble hops in a smooth and clean finishing Black Lager. Savor it by a fire or with a hearty meal during these dark, cold winter nights.

Poured from 16oz can into a dimpled mug. Canned 1/21/26.
Appearance: rich, dark brown hue that doesn’t let much light through, capped with a finger of frothy tan foam.
Smell: mildly sweet with some roasty and chocolatey notes, plus a fair dose of yeastiness. It’s not too bad.
Taste: sweetish malt with a mix of caramel and chocolate notes, along with a bit of roastiness and more of that yeastiness from the aroma. Maybe just a hint too sweet, but still quite good.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a good level of carbonation and creaminess.
Overall: a pretty solid schwarzbier! I could definitely see enjoying a few of these by the campfire or something.

Poured into a Celebrator pokal. Pours dark mahogany brown, nearly opaque in the glass with a one finger khaki head with good retention and lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt with mild char, Postum, malted milk balls, light coffee and hops. Flavor is dark toasted and biscuit malt with light to moderate char, Postum mixed grain, brown bread crust and a touch of bakers chocolate; light to moderate grassy hops in the finish. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. A solid schwarbier with a little more complex grain flavor than traditional that fits well. Nice light char and fine dark bready aroma and taste. Finishes toasty with light continental hop profile. Enjoyable. This brewery appears to be making authentic German styles appealing enough to try some of the other varieties.

On tap:
A nice sustaining off-white head is the nice part. It doesn’t produce as much lace as I’d expect (though there are fits and starts) atop the medium dark brown body that is clear of contaminants (though lacking clarity due to color.
Nose is pretty much a straightforward medium toasted bread, with maybe the lightest hint of a drop of dark honey.
Taste follows with toasted bread, though with just a little extra char than the nose showed. A hint of nuttiness and a neutral bitterness act to morph the beer slightly. A lightly bitter nip ends the beer - though whether it’s char or hops changes with each sip.
A medium light lager that hits the style points pretty well.
