16oz can from New Seasons Market. Dark brown pour, with a persistent thin, silky layer of beige head. Malty, nutty aroma with light chocolate notes. Taste brings in a noticeable yeasty character, nutty, malty, instant hot chocolate.

Canned March 3rd. It's labeled as a "Heller Bock", meaning it has a lighter color than most Bocks. Nose is malty with herbal background. Feel is very nice, like it has more volume so that than even a small sip feels like a generous taste. Very malty, with a definite sweetness. Well carbonated over all. Modest 7% ABV.

16-ounce can purchased at the New Seasons near Orenco Station. Poured into a nonic half-pint glass. Date stamp is present but unreadable.
Look:
Body is reddish-brown and clear, with deep amber highlights. The tan-colored head is thick and rich and displays very good retention.
Smell:
Rich melanoidin malt with some roastiness, a little caramel, and a distant earthiness from somewhere over the horizon.
Taste:
Starts off malty with flavors of toasted bread, caramel, and Grape Nuts cereal. Roasted malt comes forward in the middle and adds a hint of coffee flavor to the mix, followed immediately by a surprising bitterness. Finishes with roasty and nutty malt balanced by earthy bitterness and a touch of caramel.
Feel:
Medium-bodied and smooth, with soft carbonation. Very easy to drink.
Overall:
Rosenstadt Bock is a tasty example of a traditional bock. It is rich and malty, and sweet but not too sweet. The bitterness seems high for the style, but doesn't detract too much from the drinkability. Worth trying. Would drink again.
