i had to do a double take when i saw this. this is not what i know these guys for, didnt even know they did this sort of thing at all, easily the most process intensive thing i have ever seen from georgetown, glad i got to try it! a red wine barrel aged flanders type with a ton of cherries, really mature and evolved, really wild tasting to me, and with a somewhat unique cherry profile, neither pie or medicine to them, and overall the quality here is remarkable. looks more red from the fruit than dark red from the malt like the style usually does, a pinkish and thicker look to it, average head from the tap. smells super piquant and my mouth waters a lot. oak and wine tannins, red raspberries and cranberries, slight vinegar but less of that than a lot of these have, and seemingly less malt weight too, less sweet maybe. the flavor is awesome, a complex and rather wild beer happening, but its cherry driven all the way for me, puckery and natural, juicy and intense, drying almost pithy feel on the tongue, a ton of oak and rich red wine character filling in for what seems like a little lighter malt base than is customary here. it warms up well and really is cohesive, professional, and distinctive. i think its a little too sour to drink a ton of, but thats always the case with these for me, and i appreciate it not being too vinegar forward like a lot of them are. an impressive beer from these guys, i hope to see more like it from them!

Thanks to Craus for this one. 22oz bottle poured into 14oz teku. Poured a very dark, fully opaque, deep red color with about an inch of pink head that dissipated quickly and left no lacing.
Strong, but not overpowering, cherry was at the front of the nose with some wood, grain, and funk following along.
Very similar on the tongue, just better developed: the yeasts and bugs were brighter, the oak stronger, the cherries popped more, and there was even a touch of wine from the barrels.
The body was medium-light, sharp, and had a bone dry finish. Drinkability was very good, no problem knocking off this 22.
Overall, a very good beer. A must try if you can.
