We got together with Boneyard Beer and made a classic, but modern, West Coast IPA using public domain hops that have been available for over 30 years. This IPA was brewed with Columbus, Cascade, Centennial, Comet and Chinook along with a supporting malt bill for flavors and aromas of spruce tip, hibiscus, lime zest and a dash of the Pacific Northwest.

Malts - 2 Row Pale, Pilsner, Munich
Hops - Columbus, Cascade, Centennial, Comet, Chinook
Yeast - English Ale Yeast

cool collaboration with boneyard, no surprise its an ipa and that its good, coming from these two. neat to use all old school c varietal hops that are public domain, these are common ingredients for a reason and these guys have crafted a real nice beer with them, a fun project that i was glad to encounter, on draft of course. unfiltered looking but not a hazy, sunny colored but with some obvious body and a frothy white head. the nose here is strong pine to me, woodsy and classically northwestern, high alpha, and fresh as heck, super appealing and without a ton of malt underneath the hops. i get subtle green pepper, gin botanical, mountain sage, bitter citrus pith, and the milled pine lumber thing i often get from centennial, bold and intoxicating. the flavor is cool, the hops are oily and well saturated right away, and this is bitter the whole time but never green or harsh, a fine line to walk but they nailed it, and the freshness again stands out on the palate. lemon hard candy, mowed lawn in high summer, green and white tea brewed properly, some late canned pineapple and even green melon, pretty sturdy feeling too even though its not really malty in the flavor in the classic sense, yeast neutral or close to it, clean bitterness on the swallow. a soft body for such an assertive beer, high ibu but insanely tidy, the right amount of carbonation too. some late onset spiciness, classic cascade, and i like the way all these hops layer in, i think its more interesting on the palate than it sounds on paper, and this is a nice pint beer, an excellent effort overall. unsurprising coming from these two hoppy beer mavens, a treat!

On tap at Doofer's. Good, solid WC IPA. Couldn't pass up a collaboration between Georgetown and Boneyard.
