Im sampling a cold 16 oz can pouring into a chalice. I picked this up recently at the brewery. Canning date says 9/6/2020 "age to infinity". We shall see, but I dont plan on aging these all that long.
The beer pours a clear champagne color but rests in my glass with more of a goldenrod color. A thin fizzy bleached white head foams up and fades to nothing rapidly after I finish the pour. THe beer is mostly clear and looks the part of a saison.
The aroma is spicy and doughy with a little bit of a funky note. I get orange peel, coriander and black pepper scents, mixing with some bready yeast. I have no idea if any spices were added to the beer or if this is pure yeast profile. But so far the beer is pretty solid, to my untrained saison senses.
The first sip reveals a light body and crisp texture with fine and tingly carbonation. The beer drinks very easy on the physical traits.
Flavor is spicy as well. Black pepper, lemon, some coriander and again a bready yeast character. I dont get any booze hints and am attributing all flavors to the yeast not hops. ABV hidden and the beer seems very sessionable.
Its a nice change of pace for me and I actually think this example is pretty good.
