i thought this was decent but a little bit out of whack. its sort of bland as they go, not quite that sweet rich malty vibe with the crisp german lager yeast rounding it out, i think the grain base is a little short of where it needs to be, and im not sure the yeast here is german, almost tastes like it was fermented with an irish ale or something, that this is a lager is not readily obvious like it should be in the style, at least to me, and side by side with the esb, it almost tasted like a watered down version of the same thing. a little more bitterness here, grassy and prominent for the style, especially in the absence of the other elements. i suppose as the weather is still warm that this works in that context just fine, but its seemingly under flavored compared to better examples of the style. no visible flaws though, its not messed up or anything, its just perhaps a bit conservative. slight honey graham cracker notes in the middle before the hops come in. the was the least impressive of the three beers we had in here...
