Poured from a growler into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing nearly opaque in the glass with a quarter finger light khaki head that dissipates to patches with light lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, vanilla, toffee and a touch of cocoa. Flavor is dark toasted malt, vanilla, hints of cocoa; light astringency in the finish. Medium bodied with light creaminess. A light, mellow porter with a lighter then normal malt body and lots of vanilla/marshmallow character, particularly in the aroma, where it is very realistically marshmallow. The malt seems to struggle a little supporting the vanilla, leaving the finish a bit stark. Still an satisfactory light porter that works on this hot day.
