12oz snifter consumed at Iron Goat Brewing in Spokane, Washington, where it was on as a guest tap, for $5. According to the chalkboard, it's 5.5% alcohol and 17 IBUs. First beer I've had from this brewery.
The color of this beer was a fairly clear, coppery, dark amber, with almost nothing in the way of a head, and that vaporizing almost instantly. No lace at all.
The nose was mostly of clove-y, spicy Belgian yeast, along with apple notes.
The clove-y, apple flavor is pretty much how it tastes. It reminds me of Fish Brewing's Monkfish Tripel more than anything else, but without that beer's alcohol heat. Finishes slightly dry.
Too much body for anything Belgian style. Quartzite is certainly not alone in this when it comes to American takes on Belgian styles, but it always makes me sad.
This is an okay beer from a small, rather new brewery. I don't regret drinking it, but I'm not sure I'd do so again. If I lived in Chewelah, I'd probably be thrilled to drink it, though, and if I find myself at the brewery (and I might this summer), I'd get a taster of it to see if it's different.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
