Lots lie baby kitten but a bit smoother. Good beer

 

Poured from a 16oz can stamped "CANNED ON 09/22/21" to a pub glass at fridge temp.
The body is translucent with light brightening it up. White head is medium but laces well.
The aroma is of hoppy orange juice.
The taste is of watered-down hoppy orange juice. That sounds negative, but its a real slammer.
As you have probably assumed from above the body is thin, but it's a feature, not a flaw.
Overall, I like this alot.

Juicy tropical IPA. Not heavy perfect drinkability. Hazy and full of flavor.

 

16oz can from Halftime. Hazy straw color with small frothy white head. Light orange aroma, some orange peel too. Taste features faintly astringent orange peel with pillowy, bready malts. Minor bitterness, tangy notes at the end.

 

 

Picked this up a few weeks back at Gary's in Wayne as I'd never had anything from Lock City before. Not only were they local (which I've been doing my best to buy lately), but I had to laugh at this beer as I actually remember the whole O.J. saga in the 90's. Sure enough, this was an IPA that fit the bill and checked off all of the proverbial boxes although it wasn't as memorable as a low-speed freeway chase...

The pour to this was golden, hazy, and just a bit turbid without with being cloudy. Enough head topped it off as that settled nicely but there was only a few spots of lacing that were left behind as I was quite disappointed in that. Bright orange, tangerine, wheat, and a bit of exotic fruit were in the nose as the taste was a bit more varied. Bright lime, floral and tropical fruit, and some spicy bread entered the fray as this opened up nicely once it fully warmed up. Moderately slick, balanced, and lightly carbonated, this was different than other New England IPA's that I was accustomed too and it was for the better!

Not a lot of booze in this one as I only felt a touch of warming take hold as I was finishing it up. More exotic spice and floral notes also gripped me in the aftertaste as this beer was more and more unfamiliar the deeper I got into it. Canned on 3/3 with "TOKEN CAN MESSAGE" written underneath that, only a few bits of dark sediment were at the bottom as this felt as fresh as could be. Dank, balanced, and oddly inviting, this was a good first impression from Lock City!

 

 

Canned on 4/16/20

Pours an opaque, milky dark orange body topped with two fingers of fluffy white foam; ok head retention yields a thin curtain of cap, moderate froth collar, and a sparse spread of webby/spotty lacing.

Aroma opens with hints of tropical fruits, orange rind, and tangerine cream before quickly embracing an earthy onslaught of musty peppercorn, dank lemon peel, and wet grass; ultra-vivid herbal tones peak on the back end, namely thyme and oregano, with a crackling pumpernickel finish.

Taste brings a citric acidity coursing beneath a boggy, peppery dank and wet wheat overtone; fresh rye and pumpernickel bread, along with touches of lime zest spread across the mid-palate and into the finish; a soft creamy lingering features past the swallow.

Mouthfeel has a medium body, thinning progressively over time, and a moderate carbonation; even and crisp throughout, a slight juicy quality outweighs sparse indications of flatness; still-crisp finish, with a mild suggestion of hoppy grit.

An overwhelmingly earthy, peppery take on a NEIPA, this is undoubtedly a fluid, detailed expression of Simcoe hops; at the same time, its one-dimensionality holds it back, leaving it feeling well-done yet ultimately situational.

A: hazy; medium gold in color; 1 finger finely pored ivory head that receded to a skim cap; nice lacing;

S: not especially aromatic; what's there is orange with pineapple;

T: very little flavor; what's there is herbal; mild bitterness on the finish;

M: medium bodied; moderate carbonation; moderately dry finish;

O: what's there is nice, but there's not much there;

Poured from a pint can into an IPA style glass. White head, one finger deep, with great lacing. The body of the beer is a semi opaque orange. Wonderful aroma of tangerine on the nose. The first sip is all about the citrus, with an underbody of apricot tang - really tasty! Mild bitterness at the end. Excellent!

 

Poured into a 16 oz Nordic pint glass canned on 2/11/20. Pours a hazy orange with a finger sticky white head that leaves thick streaks of lace with excellent retention. 4.5

Smell is pineapple, papaya, tangerine, and apricot very tropical. 4.5

Taste follows pineapple, papaya, tangerine, and apricot nothing dominates and well balanced. 4.5

Mouthfeel is a solid medium, soft gentle carbonation, maybe a tad sticky not dry, and at 6.5% really crushable and drinks like that. 4.75

Overall this is really tasty and juicy, well crafted NEIPA. 4.5

A: Pours a murky pale golden honey in color with moderate amounts of fine active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass and moderate apricot + peach + pale golden yellow + orange colored highlights. The beer has a three finger tall dense sudsy foamy white head that slowly reduces to a large patch of thick film covering a little more than 75% of the surface of the beer and a medium sized patch of very thin film covering the remainder of the surface of the beer and a thick ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate to heavy amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate aromas of juicy citrus/grapefruit, citrus/lime, citrus/orange, gooseberry, tropical/lychee, and herbal hops over the top of light to moderate aromas of biscuit + wheat + oat + cereal grain malts with a light amount of grainy sweetness.

T: Upfront there are light to moderate flavors of biscuit + wheat + oat + cereal grain malts with a light amount of grainy sweetness. That is followed by slightly stronger than moderate flavors of juicy citrus/grapefruit, citrus/lime, citrus/orange, gooseberry, tropical/lychee, and herbal hops which impart a hint of bitterness which fades away quickly leaving light to moderate lingering citrus hop flavors.

M: Light to medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Light to moderate amounts of soft/fluffiness mid-body with a hint of dryness in the finish.

O: Easy to drink with well hidden alcohol and a pleasantly soft/fluffy mouthfeel. Enjoyable with really nice flavors and aromas highlighting the Citra and Simcoe hops but not quite a juicy as some others in the style. I could still easily have a couple of these.

 

A: The beer is very hazy pale yellow in color. It poured with a short white head that left a large patch of bubbles on the surface and a narrow collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of gooseberries and limes are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and has flavors of gooseberries and limes along with hints of oranges.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied and a little juicy on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer doesn't seem to be nearly as juicy as other New England IPAs but really showcases the aromas and flavors of Citra and Simcoe hops.
