500mL can 29/05/19 29/05/20 (about 8 months old) poured into a mug at fridge temp, no ABV listed on can nor is there a solitary word in the English language. The kvass pours heavily murky, light brown with some light tan head. The head recedes to a thin ring. The aroma is liquid rye bread. The taste is sweet liquid rye bread. The mouthfeel is thin to medium bodied with less than medium carbonation and a truly undry, borderline cloying finish. Overall, better than the other kvass I sampled, but still too sweet to really enjoy.

A thanks to my comrade, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a 16.9 oz. can. Has a muddy river color with no head whatsoever. Smell is of dark breads, little else. Taste has lots of spiciness, breads, some sharpness. Feels medium/full bodied in the mouth and overall it's worth a try.

Boy, if I didn't catch enough flak during NBS Week 731, today's New Back to the Beer Future Sunday, Part 3, Mission II, (Week 761) is really gonna bring me down! I have solidly returned to a Sunday of Kvasses & while I CAN't be happier, many are unhappy with me as an Amerikanski. 8=(
From the CAN: [From the Cyrillic Russian]: "You hold in your hands a unique product - a rustic Kvass with a aromatic. This recipe was brought from an ethnographic expedition to a Russian community where it is made in their village and recreated by our technologists using modern equipment. Coriander is a special highlight of Borodino's bread-grocery store Kvass, which is delicious. The forgotten taste of Kvass will carry on and the soul is warmed by the aromas from the oven. TAKE CARE OF YOUR HEALTH!"
I Crack!ed open the vent & beCAN a slow, gentle C-Line Glug into the awaiting glass. I watched in rapt fascination as it foamed up to form two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, light-tan head with moderate retention, slowly falling to wisps. Color was Coppery-Brown (SRM = > 17, < 22) with NE-quality clarity. Nose had the usual breadiness, but acCANponied by a mild spiciness. Mmm. Mouthfeel was thin-to-medium, big for the style. The taste was less tart than in a standard Kvass, more bready, allowing the pepperiness of the rye to exert itself, but along with it was a spiciness that I recognized, but could not quite identify. Coriander? I'll buy it! Finish was semi-dry & very mellow.
I am realizing that I need to review these Kvasses with (at least) two eyes - one, Amerikanski, the seCANd, Russkie. The former may not find it palatable and vice versa. This was less intense than some recent ones in the style, but it would probably be more palatable to my fellow Amerikanskis. It was almost tea-like in its mellowness, which might appeal to both factions. I like mellow, but I found myself wishing for more. This would make a great segue into the Mint-Black Currant that I reviewed on Friday. YMMV.
