Poured out a copper/burgundy color with an off white, small head. It smelled malty. Sweet with hints of fruit and some floral aromas. It tasted of biscuity malts and was quite sweet. It had a slight hop bitterness. It was crisp and sharp.

here is something i have not seen another brewery do, a golden alt, a style usually amber or copper and loaded with toasted and kilned malts, nutty but sweet too, and traditionally german in grain composition. this is a lighter but equally hearty take on the style, and i am impressed from top to bottom with it. definitely the most innovative beer we had here at stockyards. its crystal clear, deep golden honey colored, showing very active carbonation and most of an inch of white head. there is some german malts in here, a dusty and crackery pils type, a munich type pale barley malt, and just a tad of a richer crystal. there must also be something in here for body, as there is a ton of it in here. it doesnt quite have that nutty middle depth that traditional alt types have, but it has that ale and lager hybrid thing working with the yeast, like a lengthy cold conditioned ale fermented beer, tough to figure what they did here, maybe a warmer lager yeast fermentation, its got elements of both in taste and feel. big but clean, also very bubbly, hard to do. notes of honey and baguette and golden raisin and old world hops are all there in the finish. this is a hard be to describe because i have never had anything quite like it. not sure a mutation of a german style is going to get you on the beer geek map these days, but it should, because this beer is awesome! my favorite of their beers that we had, hands down.
