Clear red amber color with a moderate but lasting tan foamy head and some nice lacing.
The aroma is caramel, pumpernickel bread, hint of molasses and grassy hops.
The taste is likewise, sweet caramel and fresh pumpernickel with a slightly drier, grassy finish.
The body is medium, moderate carbonation, smooth and very drinkable.
Altogether, this is a very pleasant and tasty brew for those who like a nice malty ale, low bitterness but enough to off set some of the malt sweetness.

12 oz can acquired in Kansas City.
No date, 5.3% ABV.
Poured into a Boiler red logo snifter.
Pours a caramel-blonde with light shades of garnet here and there. It has a creamy head of 2 fingers, khaki in color, receding to a thick ring. Sticky lacing clings as it's swirled.
Aroma of burnt toffee, pumpernickel bread, milled grains, slight grass, and grape candy/slight molasses.
Flavor brings much of the same : mostly dark bread, a slight hint of caramel or toffee, a bit of moss, and a very faint hint of fig. Finish is of toasted breads and lingering moss/grass. Moderate bitterness, light sweetness.
Feel is carbonated, crisp, medium-bodied, with lingering resin/cling on the finish.
Overall, nothing extraordinary, just a solidly built scottish ale. Met my expectations. Would not buy again as this was just a trial.
Price paid : $2/can
Would buy again : no

On tap. Poured a semi-opaque, dark dark brown color with a small, tan head of foam. It smelled peaty, smokey and a little roasty. Nice roasted malt flavor with smokiness, earthiness and mossiness.
