Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a very hazy, light to medium golden yellow, with a one finger white head with great retention and thick lacing. Aroma of lightly caramel malt, citrus and tropical fruit hops, lemon, mixed tropical fruit, a hint of pine; spicy. Flavor is pale malt, citrus and piney hops, mixed berries, lemon, grapefruit, light pine and faint mixed tropical fruit; pine and citrus rind develop mid taste with some nice moderate hop bitterness, then the flavor flattens out into a modestly bitter, citrus rind and pine finish. Medium bodied with light creaminess. I'm trying a group of IPAs from California and doing my best to sample classic styles rather than NE style IPAs, which do not fit my pallatte. This one has the hazy look of the latter style, but had an assertive WC style aroma. The hops here are clearly Mosaic, with its citrus, berry and mixed fruit character and this has the softer flavor profile of a hazy IPA. The mid taste is great and left me hoping for a more profound finish. I guess this would in the hybrid WC/NE hazy style that seems to popular now in the West. The hops are interesting and this is a fine single hop showcase for this variety. With a more assertive finish, this would be stellar.
