Rustic and robust German golden lager. Unfiltered, featuring a lightly toasty malt character balanced with floral and spicy Spalter and Hallertau Mittelfruh hops.
Monastic brewing has existed since the Middle Ages. Monks and Nuns took on the task of brewing beer, providing pilgrims and travelers a safer beverage to drink than dirty water. Only one nun continues this brewing tradition in Europe.
Cellar Schwesters was inspired by Schwester (sister) Doris Engelhard, Brewmaster of Mallersdorf Abbey in Bavaria.

The ultimate Pink Boots beer, honoring a longtime woman brewer. Laughing Monk brewer Jen was inspired when, on a trip to Germany she met Schwester Doris Engelhard, Brewmaster of Mallersdorf Abbey in Bavaria.
A beautiful and delicious Kellerbier resulted!
As soon as I saw this on their weekly sales email, I ordered a 1/2bbl keg for Hopulent.
When I picked it up at the brewery, Jen asked me how I would pronounce the name, which I did in my best high German. It was supposed to be spelled with a 'K' but somehow got changed to a 'C'
The beer was very well received and I hope Laughing Monk brews some more.
