9/14/24 - (Can - Home) (Chicago, IL) Can Notes: Obtained via a 7/19/24 trade with David, @doctorzombies on Beer Advocate, refrigerated since trade completion and up to an unknown point before. 16 oz canned 6/3/24 @ 7:51 AM. Double Dry Hopped Hazy Imperial India Pale Ale, 8.6% ABV. Grains: Golden Promise, 2 Row, Oats. Hops: Citra, Mosaic, Columbus. Can lists Narrow Gauge Brewing Company, Brewed and canned by Florissant Brewing, N. US Highway 67 Florissant, Missouri.
Appearance: Murky orange juice but a bit darker, creamy generous bright white head what's left after a 2/3 can slow pour and a few minutes before receding. 3.75
Aroma: Tropical fruit basket of oranges, pineapple, grapefruit and lime. Bold, strong and very enjoyable. 4.5
Taste: Consistent with the aroma, Strongest lime I ever tasted from natural hops, runs a bit higher than the strong citrus, and the pineapple is swinging away. This is a battle royale of bursting fruit flavors, nice level of malt, sometimes I find imperials too malty, and can't detect bitterness, which I'm sort of surprised with the DDH, but not surprised due to the style. Really enjoying. 4.5
Mouthfeel: Light pillowy mouthfeel, can't feel any carbonation. Drinks easy at first, but the ABV is assertive and strong around the halfway point. Heated up some food to enjoy with the second half now that my taste notes are complete. Citrus lime grapefruit sweet finish, not dry, faint bitterness , if that. 4.0
Overall: This is a solid offering, really enjoyable for a style I don't pick up. The hop combination works well together and provides maximum flavor, not malty especially in light of the higher ABV. Very solid brew which held up well for over 3 months. I need to find more beers from this brewery, and need to thank David for his thoughtful beer selection in our trade. Just a great experience. 4.5

Pours a murky orange with soft head.
Smell is juicy and a bit earthy with notes of pineapple, mango and melon. Slightly dank as well.
Taste is juicy and intense with solid bitterness. Notes of melon, citrus, mango and some dank hints. A bit boozy, with some hop burn.
Mouthfeel is medium, soft, pillowy and well carbonated.
Overall, a very good DIPA, with a little bit to much burn and booze for me to be truly great.

A: The beer is very hazy to cloudy brownish yellow in color. It poured with a quarter finger high white head that gradually died down, leaving a narrow collar around the edge and some lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of grapefruit and lime are present in the nose along with notes of gooseberry and herbal hops.
T: The taste follows the smell and has dank flavors of grapefruit, gooseberry and herbal hops. There is a light amount of bitterness.
M: It feels a bit more than medium-bodied, juicy and rather smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer has a heavy dose of hops in both the smell and taste and definitely tastes like it has a strong accompanying malt bill.
