Imperial stout aged 28 months in rum barrels. During the last 6 months, Madagascar vanilla beans were added directly to the barrels.

poured from a 375mL bottle into a snifter. pours an inky, jet black with a thin layer of dark brown foam which fades away to nary a swirl in the glass. aromas of vanilla-frosted chocolate cake, spicy rum-soaked chocolate candies and marshmallow. incredible nose on this one. the vanilla and barrel integrate perfectly, none of them overpowering the other. taste is a rush of chocolate, vanilla, oak and spicy rum. as it gets closer to room temp it takes on almost a port wine-like quality. the base stout, vanilla and rum work so well together. full mouthfeel, slick finish and doesn't drink like a 14% imperial stout. amazing rum barrel-aged vanilla stout and my favorite of the BA Vanil so far.
