We released our first Abeyance barrel-aged imperial stout blend in June of 2019. These new blends are made from an imperial stout we brewed back in March of 2019, and then placed in four different bourbon barrels to age for almost 3 years.
Blend #2 (purple wax) is an imperial stout aged in Willet bourbon barrels for over 34 months.

poured from a 375mL purple-waxed bottle into a perennial snifter. pours a dense black with the tiniest cap of mocha brown foam. heavy whiskey and chocolate with light tobacco and oak. taste is chocolate-forward with a strong bourbon finish. there’s hints of vanilla with some earthy tobacco as well. medium-full mouthfeel. pretty strong barrel sting on the finish. this reminds me of some of the voodoo black magicks that i’ve had. more earthy and cigar tobacco along with chocolate and light vanilla and coconut from the barre-aging.
