We released our first Abeyance barrel-aged imperial stout blend in June of 2019. These new blends are made from an imperial stout we brewed back in March of 2019, and then placed in four different bourbon barrels to age for almost 3 years.
Blend #3 (green wax) is an imperial stout aged in Willet rye barrels for over 35 months.

poured from a 375mL bottle into a perennial snifter. pours black with minimal dark brown foam that leaves a few patches here and there. chocolate, rye whiskey and oak on the nose. a little bit of dark fruits as it warms. taste follows with perhaps a bit more spicy rye and dark fruits than the nose. slightly bitter but mostly oak barrel and chocolate forward. medium-full mouthfeel. not thin by any means but could use a little beefing up. another solid abeyance. no shortage of rye barrel character.
