2021 vintage.
This one pours a very dark black color, with a small head, and a little bit of lacing.
This smells unbelievably vibrantly of peanut butter, even almost 4 years later in the can. There’s also lots of chocolate and some bourbon there, too.
I’m really blown away by how good this one is, even four years later. I’ve heard that this doesn’t even actually have any peanut butter in it, somehow, so that could possibly be contributing to the quality of the beer at this age. It’s super nutty and chocolatey, with a light roast and oakiness that helps balance things out nicely.
This is medium bodied, and extremely creamy – this is a spot on use of lactose, it can often be so overused. This just contributes texturally and doesn’t dominate the flavor profile in a negative way. There’s very little booziness here, and it’s really drinkable.
Mast Landing feels pretty underrated, and this is a great example why.
