Dark amber brown with an expansive head in the tall Bitburger glass. Creamy mouthfeel and long-lasting foam. Rich and fruity with just the right drying sensation. Dried apricot and a little raisin. Pear liqueur and a hint of butterscotch. Not overly sweet but massively malty.
Overall this is an outstanding Dubbel and one of the best in my experience. Very smooth and highly drinkable. Lovely grainy and fruity aromatics. Maybe that's the spiciness of the rye. From the 500 ml bottle purchased at Elizabeth Station in Bellingham. Brewed in February 2016.
