Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing nearly opaque black in the glass with a patchy khaki head at first that develops into a creamy half finger head with great retention after a few minutes, fine grained like a nitro pour. Aroma of dark toasted and biscuit malt, molasses, cocoa and graham cracker. Flavor is dark toasted malt with a hint of char, molasses, bitter chocolate, a faint fruit note similar to a Belgian stout yeast, graham cracker. Finishes with good cocoa infused toasted malt, light hop bitterness and mild peat smoke. Like the head, the body is quite creamy and the closest I've experienced to a nitro feel from a bottle (even the ones that are named nitro). This is a very pleasant and full bodied stout with interesting lighter malt flavors and the subdued, but distinct peat flavor. I often pass up Mollusk beers because although I like the whole concept and approach to brewing, many of their offerings tend to wild and tart styles that are not styles I enjoy. This is interesting and very good and will encourage me to check our their brews again. Well done.
