Pours a reddish dark brown color. There is some clarity due to the visible carbonation. A large bubbly head shows good retention and yields lacing.
Biscuity and toasty aromas evoke dark bread crusts, chocolate and nutty malts. In addition, the nose yields notes of jammy dark fruit, light notes of earthy and fruity hops and coffee like roasted malts.
The taste highlights dark toasted malts, nutty/walnut like, dark chocolate and a strong emphasis on roasted malts. Well hopped, the bitterness, in tandem with the coffee like roasted malts, is significant. The hops flavors yield floral and muted fruity flavors. Well attenuated and dry with little sweetness.
Medium to full bodied, smooth and mouth coating. A long and roasty finish is espresso like in its bitterness. The carbonation is gentle.
An easy drinking porter that is well hopped and roasty. I thought it was well done.
