A second IPA from Hopewell, but this one has a noticeable red tint from our use of roasted malt. This IPA has a substantially malty backbone with a bright and clean hop aroma and bitterness.

Since emerge077 was enthusiastic about this Red IPA, I gave it another chance and Had it again.
I'm starting to see his point. This malty IPA has a nice dry finish and was a good lead into the Indian food down Milwaukee Avenue. I increased my rating, but have only muted enthusiasm.

On tap at the brewery. Ruby in color. Smell is piney hops and some peppery spice. Taste is malt forward, decent hop bitter. Feel is balanced, carb is good. Overall a solid beer. Nothing exceptional, but I'd be happy if this was the best tap on offer.

2016: Surprise hit of the recent visit to Hopewell. Dark burnished copper color, bright clarity with an ample head of off white foam, leaving behind lots of lacing. Long lasting head retention. Aroma is lightly woody and fruity.
Taste is interesting, noticeable oaky vanilla and dried fruit notes. Light sweetness up front that segues well into a dry bitter finish. Seems like they added oak spirals or something. Light to medium bodied, well carbonated and easy drinking. Would definitely get another one on my next visit.
2018: Draft doesn’t seem especially unique, malt forward. 3.8
