Our Belgian wit brings all of the traditional coriander and orange peel refreshment in a pearly 'white' ale, without any of the gluten. That's because we brew with a naturally gluten-free blend of millet and buckwheat instead of glutinous wheat. Buckwit Belgian Wit has a smooth, fruity body and Belgian soul.

Poured into a weizen glass. Pours a hazy, medium orange with a thin white head that dissipates to a thin film with slight lacing. Aroma of non-wheat malt, coriander and orange citrus. Flavor follows with millet malt, orange, yuzu, banana, coriander and a light, rye like tartness. Medium bodied with moderate creaminess, nice mouth feel. I approach gluten-free beer reviews with trepidation; it's impossible to fairly review them to style and the non-wheat/barley malts often taste a little odd, but I quite liked this one from the first taste. I does somewhat resemble a wit, but without the sharp wheat grain flavor that defines the style. This buckwheat/millet malt is pleasant tasting to me reminding me of a a little rye and cream of wheat character. Nice citrus and a touch of traditional coriander. I'm a big fan of wits and this probably won't knock any my favorites on my list, but this might be the most enjoyable gf beer I've had; I'd have no problem drinking this if the need arose. And the mouth feel Is excellent. I'm pleased.

L: Pours a slightly cloudy straw gold with a small white head and no lacing.

S: Lots of strong Belgian yeast and esters, lemon and some strong spices. Solid but no amazing

T: The Belgian yeast isn't as strong as the aroma, a touch watery but still some nice Belgian yeast.

F: Little bit watery, medium body.

O: It's a pretty decent Belgian beer

I think if you want to drink something that tastes like I imagine motor oil would taste like this would be it.......I paid over $10 no returns had to drink other drinks pour an entire lemon with juice in it and half teaspoon of vanilla flavor to not gag AND the oil taste was still there...it was horrific ...I love beer ...all beer ..I dont discriminate..this is NOT beer

as good of a gluten free beer i have had i think, the buckwheat really works well in this style with the subtle belgian yeast, as much minerality to it as belgian esters, and there is actually a surprising degree of complexity here, impressive! pale washed out looking yellow beer with a little haze but a lot of bubbles and white head to it, really looks the part. subtle lemon and banana to the nose, white wheat type, but an earthier more rustic thing to the grain base, the buckwheat lends a little rye type spice too, a different kind of grain base but almost seems like a grisette or a multigrain old world belgian saison base, spelt or something, which is where the charm and complexity comes from. not too yeasty either, its not over the top, although i get some green apple and white pepper character to it, lightly metallic, soapy in a good way, and more body than almost any gluten free beers have. light as can be to drink, super dry and bubbly too, usually a gluten free tag means its inferior compared to its full grain counterpart, but not here, i would choose this in a lineup of wit types of all persuasions. they nailed this, mad props!
