This beer has a colour of copper of a brilliant limpidity which catches the eye immediately. The fine collar of the beige head reinforces this copper colour.
The scent brings hints of caramel and roasted malts. The taste is coherent with the scent: caramelized sensations which cover a register of grilled, roasted and toasted malts. The combination is sweet, elegant, subtle, warm and without any excess of sugar. The bitterness is present and long in your mouth but does not get the upper hand on the aromatic dimension typical of this product. It is also important to add that this beer is without any residual sugar.

If you want a hoppy amber to drink, try this. I would not drink it with a meal.
On tap at the brewery, Carrieres has had an impressive start. Diole seems to be a consistent line of hop-forward brews (per the other people on the Belgian brewery tour with me.) Carrieres has a modern taproom, a surprisingly large patio, the panoply of big vessels and two auxiliary buildings.

Ambree' Looks a pretty amber with red highlights and a decent foam that fades. Smells are mostly fruit and some hops in the back of my nose. They come on strong at mid-palate and finish that way; losing their balance with the malts. Medium-mouthed.

Others might wish to be prepared for a slow pour! Despite pouring in to a pint glass it took me about 3 minutes to pour this 330ml bottle, so eager was a huge head to form.
L- Poured veeery slowly down the side of a clean pint glass. An up to 10Cm+ head rapidly formed. I have had such before but it's an uncommon occurrence that it takes as long to decant. 3-4 minutes later the cream coloured head is still 3-4Cm and gradually descending leaving heavy lacing and clumps of foam on the side of the glass. There is sediment in the pour making it quite cloudy, even to the extent of there being some small lumps rising+falling. This beer was rested for days, chilled and handled gently prior to the pour.
S- It has the complex/spicy nose similar to a German Weissbrau (wheat beer).
T- Bright, quite pungent, meaty, spicy, some richness and into a hoppy and briefly slightly bitter finish. 2nd sip and the hopping is leaving a 'zing' on my palate and the roof of my mouth as I swallow.
F- Meaty ('rewarding'), pungent ('interesting'), yet refreshing all at the same time. It feels all of it's 7.5% and, to me, a touch more.
O- Wow, a complex and very rewarding beer, and it comes with very simple/understated labelling, bordering on the austere. Superm, zero to find fault with, I'd very happily enjoy this one again.
BB: 04/21 Bought from BeerOfEurope (UK).
ps Apparently the brewery only begun commerical operations about 8 years ago > quite something to yield this superb quality product.
