Type: 16-oz. can
Reviewed as: American IPA
Glass: Melvin 14-oz. Spiegelau IPA glass
Price: $3.79
From: Windmill Farms in Del Cerro (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: Sept. 3, 2020
Consumed: Sept. 10, 2020
Misc.: No canned on date
Grabbed a can and a few others while looking for some beer for Jay. I’ve been secretly really digging beers from these guys. Couldn’t really find anything on this one except that it was a West Coast Unfiltered IPA.
Poured a medium yellow hazy color with two fingers of frothy off-white head. Maybe just a few bubbles underneath the head on the top of the glass, but not many. Average watery lacing. Poor spotty retention. (Sight - 3.25)
Smelled Citra right away. Also berry, floral, orange, tangerine, pine and caramel malt. Maybe Amarillo? A little better out of the can with the addition of peach and/or nectarine. (Smell - 3.75)
Tasted similar to the nose. In order got berry, orange, tangerine rind, nectarine, peach, floral, aspirin, black pepper and pine. No mention of hops, but would lean toward Citra and Amarillo, maybe Mandarina Bavaria? (Taste - 3.75)
Medium body. Oily texture. Average carbonation. Bitter, slightly spicy finish. (Feel - 4.00)
A very good West Coast IPA overall. Glad I picked one up. (Overall - 3.75)
