Checkerboard Green is the first beer in our new Checkerboard series. This Hazy Double IPA was Double Dry Hopped with a mindblowing 7lbs per barrel of Citra and Galaxy. Huge aromas of mango, guava, and peaches come through to complement the soft, pillowy mouthfeel.

Grabbed a can of this and a host of others on a recent trip to Windmill Farms. The Mason Ale Works website called this “Checkerboard Green is the first beer in our new Checkerboard series. Poured a hazy light golden color with two fingers of frothy off-white head. Could see a few bubble streams coming up along the sides of the glass. Excellent foamy lacing. Very good retention. (Sight - 4.25)
Smelled a nice mix of the mentioned hops with Citra and Galaxy. Also peach, apricot, tangerine, pineapple, passion fruit, mango and guava. Not as good from the can. (Smell - 4.25)
Taste wasn’t quite as good as the nose, but still really solid. Still that 50/50 mix of Citra and Galaxy. Maybe a little spicier than the nose. Also passion fruit, peach, apricot, guava, mango, grapefruit, pineapple and tangerine rind. (Taste - 4.25)
Medium body. Oily texture. Lively carbonation. Long, bitter finish. (Feel - 4.25)
Damn. This was excellent. For certain the best hazy beer I’ve had from Mason Ale Works and dare I say #MonkishAdjace? (Overall - 4.25)
