750 mL bottle. Black body with a hint of transparency. Smells of bourbon, oak, chocolate, roasted malt. Maple sweetness? Am I imagining that? Tastes of bourbon and chocolate. Again, am I imagining the maple? The bottle suggests it without saying it and I can't tell if the power of suggestion just makes me think it. Boozy, but not that sweet. Tasty.

Poured from a 750ml bottle into a tulip glass. Pours a dark black/brown with one finger off brown head that quickly settles to a solid cap. Smell is of maple syrup, coffee, oak, sweet malt, dried cherries. Taste likes smell with more of the dark roasted malt coming through. Caramel, vanilla, and toffee also come through. The bourbon booziness has really faded since I first had this beer at the brewery, allowing more of the maple to come through. Mouth feel is excellent. Just thick enough without being sticky. Overall, an excellent beer! A perfect balance of sweet, bitter, and smokiness. Definitely recommended if you can find it!

wow! this is a stunner, maybe the best beer i have ever had from a brewery i had never heard of before the beer, i mean, this is fully next level. an imperial stout aged in bourbon barrels with maple syrup, and they have done a great job with it. not sure if there is coffee in this or not, but thats the first thing i smell here in this chocolate brown highly viscous frothy brew. coffee and roasted barley, a nice low end earthy intensity established right away, but the sweetness of the whiskey barrel certainly balances it out in the nose, a lot of vanilla there, and it translates to the flavor as well, where the whiskey and maple sweetness definitely finds a harmonious balance with the bitter dark side. the maple has to be added post fermentation, i mean, its not fermented out at all, its syrupy and fully flavorful, maybe blended into finished beer, i would be surprised if it wasnt, so much maple on this, its perfect. adds a magic richness to this, which goes super well with the not at all subtle bourbon in this. charred oak for sure, and a great depth overall. there has to be some oats and maybe even some wheat in here, its smooth and round and quite substantial, this coats the palate and the throat on the way down, but isnt too sweet even with all the maple and vanilla in here. enough dark chocolate and roast in the end for it to be resolved completely. incredible beer overall, the first i have had from these guys, but apparently some hype is starting to build locally. makes sense, this is really fabulous beer. sometimes these huge barrel aged stouts all taste the same, but this is its own thing, are they bottling yet? somebody send me one of these!!!

Tan head. Black in color. Lace left.

Tons of maple syrup and coffee with a light roast. Chocolate and vanilla with some warming heat. This tastes like eating an amazing stack of pancakes or waffles. The bourbon shows really nicely here.

Full bodied. Roasted with a little sweetness.

This is an incredible beer that I hope to drink more of. Very impressed with a new brewery and a new beer.

Poured rich dark black with creamy tan head that never seemed to disappear. Scent was maple syrup, roasted coffee sweet vanilla. Flavor was led by dark roast coffee, chocolate, smooth vanilla and maple with subtle heat of bourbon at the tail end. Improved as warmed in my snifter glass. Very solid beer, I'm excited to see how this new brewery develops their barrel program.

This beer pours jet black with a medium brown head. Very nice maple/chocolate aromas. Taste is very complex, yet it blends well. Flavor notes include maple, coffee, and a hint of chocolate. It finishes with a nice bourbon hotness! Very well made beer by a small town brewery!
