Beer has a great red hue and is an easy drinker for a traditional IPA.

Currently #74 in the Top Rated Louisiana Beers list.
CAN: 12 fl oz pull-tab. $8.49 USD plus tax for a sixer at a local grocer. Canned 09/04/19...no best before date appears on the can.
"Double-dry hopped red India Pale Ale." 7% ABV. 68 IBU. Brewed with Cascade, Citra, and Chinook hops. Malts: Pale Ale Malt, Special B, Carared, Crystal 40. Water: Reverse osmosis, Burtonized.
Toasted malts are accentuated by an almost scraping bitterness from the C-hops, with the beer's coarseness and dryness amplifying the toastiness of the carared flavours. Floral, resinous, and citrusy, emphasizing Chinook more than Citra or Cascade. I don't get the slightly oily hop taste Cascade can impart (e.g. Sierra Nevada Pale Ale). In any case, it's nice to drink a Louisiana-brewed IPA that doesn't shy away from hop bitterness...it seems like many of the popular breweries in the state are churning out India Odwalla Ales left and right instead of actually committing to their hop varietals.
This goes a bit too far towards the bitter end of the spectrum (and Cascade/Citra/Chinook are not the right hops to do that with...I'd go Magnum or Nugget), but its aggression isn't that unwelcome when tempered by the specialty malts in the mix. A bit rough around the edges, but not off-puttingly bitter or imbalanced to the point it's a chore to drink.
Well-carbonated. Medium-bodied. Unrefreshing.
A drinkable but forgettable Red IPA from Second Line, and not a beer I'd buy again. Those in New Orleans are better off nabbing the Sierra Nevada variety box for Flipside Red when in the mood for a Red IPA. There really isn't a great expression of the substyle in Louisiana that I've found, so I guess it's nice a brewery is at least trying. But up against the best in the national and global arenas, this is a shrug.

A: The beer is hazy dark yellowish amber in color. It poured with a quarter finger high off white head. The head has good retention properties and consistently left a short head covering the surface.
S: Light to moderate aromas of caramel malts and citrusy and piney hops are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and is dominated by flavors of caramel malts along with some hints of citrusy and piney malts with some associated bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied and a bit crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation. There is some dryness in the finish.
O: This beer reminds me of an IPA from the 1990s as it has mild hops.

Route 47 Red has a thin, off-white head, a mostly opaque, rust-red appearance, some ascending bubbles, and minimal glass lacing. Aroma is of sharp and strong malts, hop resins, tannin, and tropical fruit. Taste is of sweet, strong, bready malt, resinous hop oil, fruit, fairly intense bitterness, and sugars. Mouthfeel is high medium, with some chewiness, and Route 47 Red finishes mostly dry.

This is a first rate red double IPA and a very pleasant surprise. I had almost given up have a truly great local beer with my dinner in New Orleans until this one. It went great with the food at Domenica.
A deep red brown, great caramel and vanilla notes, as good as some of the classics like Red Rocket Ale.
You can get great beer in NOLA with a bit of work, but great food and great beer at the same place was a treat!

Clear dark copper colored pour with a slightly off-white one-finger head. Aroma of caramel malts and pine. Taste has a strong piney flavor upfront backed by caramel and bready malt flavors. Can also taste a good bit of resiny hop flavor.

A- Deep, deep translucent red hue. Nice head and a little lacing.
S- Biscuity and bready malts with some resiny, pine hops underneath.
T- A tasty hoppy red ale. Good amount of bitterness but has enough malt backbone to handle it.
M- It has a thicker mouthfeel, but it works and I actually prefer it on this beer.
D- A super drinkable and tasty, hoppy red ale. Too bad I bought the last one on the shelf...

My favorite beer from Second Line Brewing. Not bitter, plenty of hops and a deep red hue. Even people who don't like IPA seem to enjoy this beer. A royal looking and tasting beer.
