Our newest IPA brewed with Eclipse, Topaz and Idaho 7 hops. Hazy and yellow in colour with notes of tart lychee and tangerine pulp. Up front bitterness of citrus peel and pine needles is balanced by grassy undertones. No. 5 is alive!

Solid ipa. Catching up with elora and maturing reputation. Solid ipa. Drinkable stuff. very decent mouthfeel. Worth a try if there.

473 mL can from the LCBO; dated Mar 28 2024 and served slightly chilled.
Pours a hazy pale golden-yellow colour, graced with more than two fingers of billowing, foamy white head that lasts for well over five minutes. A rocky quarter-inch cap and soapy collar last even longer, with several rings of delicate lace adhering to the glass - looks amazing so far. Mandarin orange and pineapple juice on the nose, with additional hints of grapefruit, berries, stone fruit and grassy, piney, vaguely spicy hops.
Tastes pretty good, starting out with flavours of orange, pineapple and mango, as well as suggestions of berries and stone fruit. Grapefruit pithiness develops on the back end, along with a grassy, spicy hop note and some fairly pronounced piney bitterness - or at least, pronounced for a hazy IPA - concluding with a spicy aftertaste that dries out quickly. Medium in body, with moderate carbonation that supplies some bite to this brew's smooth, soft mouthfeel. Decent drinkability for its strength, but I think one can per sitting would be my limit.
Final Grade: 3.88, a B+. I've tried only a handful of Elora products over the years, and Short Circuit is a pretty good representation of my overall experience with this brewery. They make some solid pale ales, but I haven't been blown away by any of them - the one *possible* exception being their Elora Australis, which was pretty darn good when fresh. Short Circuit is a beer I could drink without complaint, but I don't think it's significantly better than its mid-to-upper tier Ontario competition. Worth a try at least, especially if you stumble upon a fresh flat of tallboys.

473ml can served cold into a pint glass. LCBO purchase for around $3.95 CDN. Canned November 17, 2022.
Appearance - Rather hazy yellowy gold brew with honey brown coloring too. Two fingers of white and frothy head rest on top. Very good staying power and a nice soapy collar and spidery lacing is formed as the head recedes.
Smell - Pineapple and mango in about equal parts. Lots of juicy fruity qualities.
Taste - Lots of pineapple up front, some mango in behind. Rather sweet and on the juicy side. Maybe a touch of nectarine and lychee in there too. Flavor doesn't seem to linger very long.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied, carbonation is low and does have that juicy New England style vibe.
Overall - Rather solid NEIPA, just wish the flavor profile stayed on the tongue just a bit longer.
