A throw back to the original craft IPA‘s– Chinook and Citra hops, which gives this beer a higher bitterness with a citrusy and piney taste.

At my lady Pamela's house; canned and chilled, 473mL in a pint glass. From the University Ave. West LCBO in nearby downtown Windsor. My second beer from the Elora, Ontario brewery, and first for 2025...

473 mL can from the LCBO; dated Sep 13 2024 and served barely chilled.
Pours a clear, brassy golden colour, kicking up nearly two fingers of big-bubbled, foamy white head that falls back within five minutes or so. Great lace deposition, with a thick, soapy collar left encircling a thin cap - it's a visually attractive beer, for sure. Grapefruit, berries and orange peel on the nose, with hints of passion fruit, piney hops and apricot.
The flavours don't deviate much from the aroma - citrusy notes of grapefruit and orange dominate, supported by notes of berries, passion fruit and peach drink. Piney on the back end, with hints of caramelized sugars, citrus pith and earthy bitterness rounding out the finish; stone fruit lingers into a slightly resiny aftertaste. Medium in body, with relatively low carbonation that meekly nudges against the surface of the palate; smooth, soft mouthfeel that makes for a very quaffable IPA.
Final Grade: 4.02, a solid A-. Elora's West Coast IPA isn't an especially exciting or unique brew, but it's still right up my alley, reminding me of some of my favourites in this style. In fact, if this beer had been released in the mid 2010s, I guarantee you it'd already be a regular in my rotating stable of go-to IPAs. Possibly the best Elora pale ale I've tried to date, but keep in mind I'm biased when it comes to WCIPAs - your mileage may vary if you prefer the modern, juicy/hazy stuff over citrusy, piney West coasters.
