My second beer from this brewery, & I’m a sucker for stouts with a strong maple presence. Arrives in a 500ML bottle with a…Maplesaurus Rex on the beige label.

Black. Still-adjacent. The nose is dominated by big, cold maple.

Maplesaurus Rex hits the marks the label asserts. The maple is big, sweet, with only a gentle tug of earthiness. More sweetness from the vanilla &, assumedly, the malts, along with a touch of cocoa powder. Thick, full, filling. 500ML is about as much as I could swallow without unswallowing it.

The maple is the star here & there’s no attempt to disguise it. Excellent beer (that really should see barrels at some point).

Poured from tap at the brewery. Pours jet black with light brown head. Nose is all maple. Not a sugary sweet maple, but an intense maple wood note. Taste is great - almost all maple with some chocolate and vanilla. Some blueberry and raspberry as well. Mouthfeel is thick and creamy. Fairly unidimensional.

Poured in to Pure Project snifter. Nice deep brown maple syrup like color, go figure! Deep tan billowy head that’s gone fairly quickly. The nose is of maple and brown sugar with hints of dark roast beans. Nice maple presence to taste. Notes of brown sugar, caramel and light coffee with a hint of roasted malt

Received in a trade and shared with JLindros. Batch #1 bottled 7/2018.

A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a nice dark black hue with a thin mocha head that fades to leave nice creamy blanket, great lacing, and phenomenal legs.

S - Big aromas of maple cream, raw maple and sugars, fresh cut vanilla beans, sweeter malts. Just super fragrant! The chocolate that comes with an imperial stout is lacking though.

T - Taste is similar to the nose with enormous maple syrup notes and really vibrant vanilla bean. There is good lighter chocolate going on and pleasant malts. Little bit of roast. Almost coffee like. Delicious.

M - Mouthfeel is nicely carbonated, silky, smooth, creamy, alcohol hidden wonderfully. Phenomenal.

O - Overall this was a phenomenal stout. The maple and vanilla are exquisite, just lovely base beer as well that brings lovely coffee like notes to the table. Really really great beer.

Thanks to rudzud
Pours a big frothy creamy thick darker colored 1 finger head that never seems to fade, great retention, great soapy lacing, long legs, pitch black color, perfect

NOse brings lots of earthy maple, raw maple and sweet candy like, big cocoa and dark chocolate, maple creams into big vanilla, raw vanilla, some dark malts and roast notes, faint caramel, some earthiness almost like spices and oak but not quite

Taste super rich creamy sweet syrupy dark malts and maple syrup, very sweet, raw maple syrup all over, maple creams and rich candy, tons of vanilla too, raw vanilla and very earthy with it, plenty of cocoa and dark chocolate base malt, cookie wafer malted milk ball too, then coffee beans and roasted coffee espresso especially on the back end, creamy lush oatmeal with chocolate, slight sticky finish, more coffee roast and dark chocolate lingering, more fudge and cocoa, plenty more maple and vanilla lingering

Mouth is lush creamy thick but not too syrupy, nice carb, pretty much no alcohol

Overall this was really nice, a bit too sweet to bump the taste to 4.75 and nose didn't have enough base stout to really pop to 4.75, but otherwise this was very nice

Probably the best big stout with maple in it that I've had. Very flavorful and almost a punch in the face on the nose and taste. Big barrel taste, although, I'm not seeing that it's barrel aged, and not too expensive for what it is. $10/10oz pour at the brewery.

Poured off the tap at Pure Project into a house snifter. Pours a dark milk chocolate with a thin tan head. Nose is mostly maple w/ hints of vanilla poking through. Palate is also strong on maple w/ vanilla there but taking a back seat. (The vanilla starts to emerge more as it warms.) Rich mouthfeel; somewhat sweet and a tad cloying. A bit too much of a pour-it-on-your-pancakes beer for my tastes, but still good and well made.
