500ml bottle. Label has a spot for bottling date but no date is provided.
Black colored body, with red mahogany back lit edge. Billowy tan head, which forces multiple pours to get beer body into glass. Lacing left behind features spots and patterns on the glass.
Aroma has maple syrup which is discovered by a big whiff. Main smell is dark roasted malts, which are molasses level, and coffee. Does not smell sweet.
Taste is quite sweet from the malt and maple. The dark roasted malts express toffee and molasses. The maple seems authentic as a syrup. Coffee adds to the darkness and is bitter. Overall there is a balance between the sweet and bitter. The sweetness slightly wins out in the aftertaste.
Slightly more than medium mouthfeel, with the expected syrup. Also a little dry on the finish (because of the higher ABV%, which does not produce a burn). Good supportive carbonation.
Mellow and laid back coffee maple beer.
