Welcome back to our original barleywine, Forgotten Brilliance. As a tribute to the big, hoppy American barleywines as well as vintage English ales of yore, this ale features Centennial, Amarillo, and Cascade hops over a hearty canvas of Maris Otter and English crystal malts. This second batch went through a two-hour boil, creating a sturdy backbone that will help this beauty age gracefully for decades to come.

2022 bottle poured at fridge temp. Pours an opaque brown/reddish with about a half inch of off-white head. The nose is really nice. It definitely comes across as an American barleywine, but not as hoppy/bitter as an OG or Bigfoot. Caramel, hops, figs, raisin, banana bread, and a bit of maple candy.
The taste is bloody awesome. Not sweet, not overly bitter. Just a really great balance. Not sure if it's the fact that this bottle is 2 years old, but I'm loving it. Caramel, biscuits, maple, nutmeg, figs, pear, slight citrus peel, a hint of pine, and a bit of clove. Loving it.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied, pretty dry, and comes with an aftertaste is slight hoppy toffee.

Bottled 6/21, batch 1.
This is an interesting mix. Wish I tried this super fresh but the hops are still remarkably vibrant. I got prickly citrus, peach, and pine resin. Under that are nice English barleywine notes of fig cakes with almonds and toffee. This is unique and damn good.

Pours a murky brown with red highlights to brighten the murky somewhat. Small light tan head falls to ringed bubbles with some good spotty lace for a big abv brew.
Aroma is malty sugary caramel and toffee, figs on top of it so somewhat English on the malt side but also hops resin tobacco, pine, apricot and citrus rind underneath the more English type malt notes. Nose is so smooth and inviting not as aggressive as straight American style I like the English malt notes bunches. Smells like victory.
Taste is nice follows the nose, big malty base caramel/toffee with dark fruit notes mainly sugary figs that linger through to the finish. Big hop notes pine, tobacco, apricot deep citrus rind Sure it was brighter as this is 7 months old but still sporting a good big hop profile. Loving this one seems like a perfect blend of the styles or maybe I'm just in the mood for a big BW, God wish more brewers would do this style.
Mouthfeel is almost full big and chewy with just a light touch of pep in the carbonation.
Overall glad I picked this up in Arizona, sadly wish I could buy some in Tennessee as I would run out now and buy a few to drink and age. Personally loved this beer seems underrated here and on untapped in my humble opinion.

Foggy acorn to brick reddish-brown with a tan head of moderate height settling to a dense and persistently bubbly blanket clinging in fine wavy sheets.
American indeed, aroma is mildly resinous and piney with orange lozenge and Melba toast.
The moderately light body delivers dates and fiery pinewood via a softly crisp carbonation, finishing cleanly semi-dry with a toasted pumpernickel and black walnut exhale. With time, touches of orange butterscotch emerge, allowing definitions of some floral, fruity modern hop qualites to clarify in the background.
Reminds me of simpler times.
