White Elm Brewing Co. "Cerberus"
16 fl. oz. can without production codes or freshness dating
$2.99 @ Wall To Wall Wine and Spirits, Omaha, NE
Notes via stream of consciousness: A very hazy golden body is capped by a thumb's width of rocky white foam. Plenty of tiny bubbles can be seen streaming steadily upwards. The aroma displays yeast (actual yeast), peppery yeasty spiciness, and some lightly sweet and grainy malt. The flavor is woody and nutty (mostly likely from the yeast), quite spicy, and softly fruity with notes of apple, sweet pear, and dull orange zest. A stiff bitterness runs through it leading to a dry finish with a swirl of peppery spiciness, some flinty mineral, and a dusting of dry earth. The alcohol never shows although there is a light presence to it. In the mouth it's medium bodied and lightly zesty on the tongue. All in all this is a good beer but the amount of yeast left in it brings it down in bothe the aroma and flavor. Did I just get a can from the start or end of the run with more yeast than it should normally have? Unfortunately I'll never know.

Hazy, light golden/orange look. Persistent, creamy, off-white head. Bright, lemon/grapefruit peel. with some off-dry, slightly toasted barley, along for the ride. Thin, grapefruit peel with an edge and a skosh of lightly toasted malt, underlying.
