This was another beer that I ordered on Tavour not too long ago, as I never had anything from White Elm before. Loved the label and the liquid on the inside just as beautiful and enjoyable as this didn't feel like an Imperial IPA at all!
Such a lovely, softly radiant golden hue to this with plenty of full, wavy, and undulating foam topping this off. Well-defined rings of lacing stayed behind as they bled down to the ones below. Tropical fruit, mango and papaya rind, white cheese, and passion fruit were in the nose as the taste nicely followed suit. Deep citrus, soft hops, and sweet, sticky fruit emerged in the taste as this was such a clear winner from the start. Easy to drink, full of warmth and heft, and nicely cloying in the back, this was a lip-smacker of an IPA if there ever was one!
This felt strong, but didn't taste it as the alcohol took a back seat to the nice array of hops that this showcased. Can't say that I ever had anything with Talus in it before, but it gave a wine-like nuance to this as the Galaxy and Ell Dorado brought out the weighted, weedy dankness that I've come to love in an IPA. No date was on the can as this was this brew's only drawback. Loved this beer as this was quite the first impression from White Elm. If only I had found this on my trip through the Cornhusker State a few months back!

A bit too fruity. Add some bitter to cut it and this would be a winner.

Ain't nobody adding new beers lately.
Starry Eyed Triple India Pale Ale, 10.0% ABV.
16 oz can, no canning date.
Goose Island Nonic Pint.
Pours a slightly foggy but still pretty transparent golden blonde, with an attractive 2 finger head of firm cream. It recedes to a quarter finger and leaves connected sheets of lace on the glass.
Aroma is pretty fruity, lots of red grapefruit, quite a bit of pineapple, some passion fruit, and a little mango. It's fresh and clean. No off-aromas. No diesel. No trace of alcohol. Excellent.
Flavor brings dry grass to start, followed by some metallic diesel, and then copious amounts of red grapefruit and papaya. Hints of lemon peels, orange, and melon interweave. The finish is of metallic hop particulate, fuel, and grapefruit pith.
Feel is carbonated and burning, lots of resins, good crispness throughout. Soaks into the palate nicely. Some juiciness. Slight resins and more heat on the finish. Alcohol is pretty damn well hidden here for a tenner.
Overall, White Elm may not be great at most of their IPAs, but this one was a home run. I don't like it as much as Lupulin's Strictly Illegal, but I'd have no problem rotating between that and Starry Eyed during my lulls in between beer trips. Not a bad triple IPA at all. For our area, it's head and shoulders above all the other overhyped bullshit.
Price paid : $3.99 / can
Would buy again : yep
